Oolong Tea and Weight Loss

January 30th, 2009 by Homer Liao | 2 Comments | Filed in oolong tea

Oolong tea is a popular type of tea that falls about halfway between being a “green” tea and being a “black” tea. All teas come from the Camellia Sinensis plant, and are green when the leaves are first harvested. The key to oolong tea’s beneficial properties lies in how it is processed. Once plucked oolong tealeaves are allowed to partially oxidize and are not broken intentionally thereby allowing them to remain intact.

The word on the street is that oolong tea is even better then green tea in battling the bulge. Celebrity figures swear by its consumption, but how does one know what is hype and what is truth? Retailers will often tell a customer anything to sway them to purchase a product from their store, so their accounts are unreliable, and celebrities try a new diet every week, so long term effects of any of their methods are never known. Supposedly, the curing process that is responsible for oolong tea’s flavor and health properties inhibits the amount of antioxidants in the tea once brewed, but that instead there is an increase in polymerized polyphenols that are reported to have a fat burning and fat blocking quality.

Studies still have yet to determine long-term effects, but as far as most experts know, in combination with a healthy diet and lifestyle adding oolong tea may help you lose weight. Any ‘diets’ that advertise oolong tea as all you need for a weight loss program are false. Aside from supposed properties, all teas are calorie and fat free, so replacing two beverages a day with oolong tea will lead to eventual weight loss simply by cutting out other beverages that are loaded with empty calories out of your diet. Tea and medical experts recommend only two cups of oolong tea a day no matter if your goal is weight loss or just a healthy diet. (more…)

Oolong Tea Benefits

January 30th, 2009 by Homer Liao | No Comments | Filed in oolong tea

The benefits of oolong tea are a direct result of the special way it is processed. Since the leaves are not broken during the drying process, the cells are not broken down and retain the full potency of their contents. Oolong teas is not quite a green tea, and not quite a black tea, as it is only partially fermented (green tea is un-fermented and black tea is completely fermented). The buzz surrounding the benefits of oolong tea focuses mainly on its high concentration of polyphenols, which act upon fat cells in the body and encourage the body to cease creating new fat stores.

Oolong tea is beneficial because it helps fight the free radicals that occur naturally within the body as well as those that come in from outside sources like chemical exposure and sun damage. It also has been known to act positively upon the body to encourage the metabolizing of existing fat cells and reduce the amount of fat the body makes from then forward, for as long as it is consumed. Logic would lead one to believe based on this information that using oolong tea as directed would provide significant benefits when combined with a healthy diet and exercise routine. (more…)

January 30th, 2009 by Homer Liao | 4 Comments | Filed in oolong tea

The Wu-Long Tea Diet, also known as Oolong or Wulong, is a tea with characteristics similar to Green Tea and Black Tea.  It comes from a species of teas that are moderately oxidized through the use of heat.  China is the top producer of Wu-Long Tea.  The tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant.  Wu-Long tea combines the taste of Green Tea with the strength of Black Tea.  There are many benefits to drinking Wu-Long Tea.  One of the most desirable benefits is weight loss.  Wu-Long Tea is commonly consumed in Asia for its health and weight management qualities.  It has become famous in the Western culture for its weight loss traits and is now marketed as the Wu-Long Tea Diet.

Wu-Long Tea is most beneficial when consumed before a meal to both control weight loss and to process the components of the meal.  By consuming Wu-Long Tea at least fifteen minutes prior to eating a meal with carbohydrates, the tea helps dull the affects that carbohydrates have on the body’s insulin level reducing the spike in insulin that the body feels after eating a meal with carbohydrates.  The Wu-Long Tea Diet works because the tea is comprised of a low level of caffeine, anit-oxidents and polyphenols.  Research shows that polyphenols control obesity by triggering an enzyme that burns triglycerides.  The tea consumed in the Wu-Long Tea Diet works to jump start the metabolism and burn fat.  It boosts energy levels by ten percent therefore accelerating the metabolic rate.  The Wu-Long Tea Diet is also used by diabetics as the tea is known to control blood sugar levels.  Green Tea was the first tea product from Asia to be used in the Western world as a diet supplement.  Wu-Long Tea is known to burn almost three times more calories than Green Tea. Wu Long Premium Tea

January 30th, 2009 by Homer Liao | 2 Comments | Filed in oolong tea

Wu long premium tea is the same as any garden variety oolong tea, the spellings are only different because of distortion over time. The tea was originally discovered by accident in the Fujian Province of China and has since gone on to become a world renowned weight loss tool. Of course the true secret to weight loss success is enough sleep, the right foods, and enough exercise, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to add an extra aid against temptation! So instead of snacking between meals, have a cup of hot Wu long premium tea to cut cravings and burn fat.

According to numerous scientific studies in China over past decades those subjects who consumed oolong (or wu long) tea at least twice a day for three months all showed reduced fat to weight ratios and achieved successful weight loss overall. The polyphenols and anti-oxidants in the tea aid in the battle against free radicals as well as giving the body an extra boost of energy to help work against cravings and the formation of new fat cells. It is important to note that this tea, as anything taken into the body in excess, can be harmful to your health. Too much water or vitamin C could also do harm to your body, but again only in excess. Experts recommend only consuming two cups of wu long premium tea per day, but wu long is not the only kind of tea with beneficial properties, be on the lookout for green tea as well to supplement your weight loss plans.
