The Wu-Long Tea Diet, also known as Oolong or Wulong, is a tea with characteristics similar to Green Tea and Black Tea.  It comes from a species of teas that are moderately oxidized through the use of heat.  China is the top producer of Wu-Long Tea.  The tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant.  Wu-Long tea combines the taste of Green Tea with the strength of Black Tea.  There are many benefits to drinking Wu-Long Tea.  One of the most desirable benefits is weight loss.  Wu-Long Tea is commonly consumed in Asia for its health and weight management qualities.  It has become famous in the Western culture for its weight loss traits and is now marketed as the Wu-Long Tea Diet.

Wu-Long Tea is most beneficial when consumed before a meal to both control weight loss and to process the components of the meal.  By consuming Wu-Long Tea at least fifteen minutes prior to eating a meal with carbohydrates, the tea helps dull the affects that carbohydrates have on the body’s insulin level reducing the spike in insulin that the body feels after eating a meal with carbohydrates.  The Wu-Long Tea Diet works because the tea is comprised of a low level of caffeine, anit-oxidents and polyphenols.  Research shows that polyphenols control obesity by triggering an enzyme that burns triglycerides.  The tea consumed in the Wu-Long Tea Diet works to jump start the metabolism and burn fat.  It boosts energy levels by ten percent therefore accelerating the metabolic rate.  The Wu-Long Tea Diet is also used by diabetics as the tea is known to control blood sugar levels.  Green Tea was the first tea product from Asia to be used in the Western world as a diet supplement.  Wu-Long Tea is known to burn almost three times more calories than Green Tea.
